Terms of Service - HSKStory

1. Service Description

HSKStory ("Service", "we", "us", or "our") provides AI-generated Chinese language stories graded by HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) vocabulary levels. Our service includes:

AI-generated Chinese stories limited to specific HSK vocabulary levels (1-7)
Audio narration generated using Azure Text-to-Speech technology
Vocabulary validation with 91-93% accuracy against official HSK word lists
EPUB file exports and vocabulary lists

2. User Accounts

To use certain features of our Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

Provide accurate and complete registration information
Maintain the security of your account credentials
Not share your account with others
Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior.

3. Subscription Terms

Our subscription service operates on a monthly billing cycle:

Billing: Subscriptions are billed monthly at $10/month
Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
Usage Limits: Subscribers can generate up to 30 custom stories per month
Cancellation: You may cancel anytime; access continues until period end

Additional stories beyond the monthly limit can be purchased individually at $2-3 per story.

4. Content & Intellectual Property

Your License: You receive a personal, non-transferable license to use generated stories for personal language learning purposes only.

Restrictions: You may not:

Redistribute or resell generated stories commercially
Use stories for purposes other than personal learning
Remove watermarks or attribution (if present)
Claim authorship of AI-generated content

Platform Rights: HSKStory retains all intellectual property rights to the platform, software, and technology used to generate stories.

5. AI Content Disclaimer

Important: All stories are generated using AI language models and validated against HSK vocabulary lists.

Accuracy: We achieve 91-93% vocabulary accuracy in testing, but cannot guarantee 100% HSK compliance in every story
Quality: Story quality, coherence, and educational value may vary
Not Official: Stories are intended for practice, not official HSK exam preparation
No Guarantees: We make no guarantees about learning outcomes or fluency improvements

Audio narration is generated using Azure Text-to-Speech. Audio quality depends on Azure's service and may vary. Generation typically takes 2-3 minutes after story creation.

6. Prohibited Uses

You may not:

Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
Attempt to circumvent usage limits or payment requirements
Share account credentials with others
Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
Attempt to reverse-engineer our AI models or technology

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination without refund.

7. Limitation of Liability

AS-IS SERVICE: HSKStory is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We do not warrant that:

The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
All stories will meet HSK vocabulary requirements perfectly
Audio generation will always succeed
The Service will meet your specific learning needs

LIABILITY CAP: Our total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is less.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

8. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, then binding arbitration if necessary.

9. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
